“You are not the axis of the earth, but you are the anchor of a small shore.”
Cahaya mentari masuk melalui jendela besar di depan kami dan memantul lembut di lantai lounge yang tenang. Wanita itu menatap saya lebih lama, kali ini ada kilatan tajam yang jujur. “That’s life” katanya pelan.
“You think everything hinges on you but it doesn’t. The world keeps moving. Trains run, shops open, seasons change. Whether you are ready or not.” Ia berhenti sejenak.
Saya tersenyum tipis. “Back then, when I was a student, I really thought the world revolved around me. Turns out, I wasn’t as important as I believed I was” ujar saya sambil tertawa kecil, sedikit getir.
“Don’t get me wrong. You matter deeply but only to a very small circle. Your parents, your siblings, your friends. That’s where you are irreplaceable.” lanjutnya lembut.
Kata-katanya sederhana, tidak filosofis, justru terasa nyata. Saya mengangguk perlahan. “Back then, it was my dad, my mom and my two brothers and it still is. They meant the world to me.”
Ia tersenyum tipis. “That’s it. In real life, that small circle is your whole universe. Outside of that, things just keep going. Meetings happen, people move on, the day ends. It’s not personal. It’s just how it is.”
Saya terdiam. Kenangan masa kuliah di Swiss itu kembali mengingatkan saya bahwa siap ataupun tidak, hidup tetap berjalan, dengan atau tanpa saya.
“The world does not revolve around you but a few hearts quietly do.”
